How Pleneo rooms handle network and power issues
What happens to a room when the internet, network, or power is interrupted, and what keeps working.
Overview
Pleneo rooms keep working through common network and power issues. All core room functions run locally on the Pleneo hub, so a room keeps operating even when it's cut off from the internet or Pleneo Cloud. This page explains what happens in each situation.
If the internet goes down
The room keeps working. All room functions, microphones, speakers, cameras, audio processing, and meetings run locally on the Pleneo hub and don't depend on an internet connection.
When the internet is down, you lose only the Cloud features: remote management, monitoring, and analytics. Meetings in progress are unaffected, and the room continues to work normally for anyone using it. When the connection returns, the room reconnects to Pleneo Cloud automatically.
If Pleneo Cloud is unreachable
The room is unaffected. The system doesn't rely on Pleneo Cloud to run; it only uses it for remote management and monitoring. If Cloud is temporarily unreachable, rooms keep working as normal, and remote management resumes automatically once the connection is restored.
If the local network has a problem
No DHCP server: The room falls back to link-local addressing and keep working. Discovery, setup, and tuning all continue to function.
A device loses its network link: the affected device drops out, but the rest of the room keeps working. Reconnecting the device brings it back automatically.
The status light shows the current network state, so you can see quickly whether the issue is the network, an IP address, or the device itself. See Pleneo hub's status light and reset button.
If a device fails
A single device failing doesn't take down the room; the rest keeps working. When you replace the device, AutoDeploy™ reconfigures it automatically, so the room returns to full performance with no manual setup. See Replacing a device.
If power is interrupted
All Pleneo devices are powered over PoE from your network switch. When power returns, the room powers back on and comes back online automatically, with no manual steps. For operation through power cuts, power your PoE switch from a UPS, as you would for other critical network equipment.
In summary
Internet down: the room keeps working locally; only Cloud management pauses
Cloud unreachable: rooms are unaffected; remote management resumes automatically
Network issues: Pleneo hub keeps the room running and shows the state on its status light
Device failure: the rest of the room keeps working; replacement reconfigures automatically
Power restored: rooms come back online on their own
