NPI Program Manager (New Product Introduction)
Remote
Role Overview
Pleneo/Xilica is looking for a highly structured, detail-driven NPI Program Manager to own the end-to-end transition of new products from engineering into production.
This role is not product management and not engineering — it is the operational glue that ensures new products are introduced on time, to quality, and in a production-ready state.
This role will be solely accountable for all NPI execution activities, from early alpha builds through beta programs and into initial mass production, ensuring that every product is manufacturable, compliant, documented, packaged, and supply-ready before it becomes a revenue-generating SKU.
Key Responsibilities
New Product Introduction (Core Ownership)
Own the entire NPI lifecycle from engineering handover to stable production.
Plan and manage alpha, beta, pilot, and ramp-up builds.
Define and maintain NPI schedules, milestones, risks, and dependencies.
Act as the single point of accountability for NPI execution.
Manufacturing & Production Readiness
Coordinate with engineering on:
BOMs (component BOMs, packaging BOMs, documentation BOMs)
Engineering drawings, revisions, and ECO tracking
DFM / DFA readiness for manufacturing partners
Ensure factories are fully briefed and prepared for each build phase.
Manage initial production planning for the first X months until products are stable revenue lines.
Packaging & Physical Product Readiness
Own packaging readiness end-to-end:
Packaging structure, materials, and suppliers
Packaging BOMs and tooling
Packaging testing (drop tests, transit tests, compliance where required)
Ensuring packaging meets Pleneo’s quality and brand standards
Coordinate packaging availability with production timelines.
Beta Program Management
Plan and execute structured beta programs, including:
Beta unit production quantities and timelines
Coordination with Product Management on beta customer selection
Tracking beta deployments and feedback
Ensuring feedback is actionable, structured, and fed into QA and engineering
Drive beta exit criteria and readiness gates.
Quality, Certification & Compliance
Manage product certifications and compliance activities, including:
Safety, EMC, radio, and regional compliance (CE, FCC, etc.)
Coordination with test labs and compliance partners
Tracking certification schedules and documentation
Ensure all required compliance documentation is production-ready before shipment.
Documentation & Artwork Coordination
Work with Product, Design, and Marketing teams to:
Finalise product documentation included in-box (quick start guides, safety sheets, labels)
Manage artwork readiness, revisions, and approvals
Ensure documentation matches regulatory and regional requirements
Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as the bridge between:
Engineering → Manufacturing
Product Management → Operations
Design → Supply Chain
Run NPI reviews, readiness checkpoints, and go/no-go decisions.
Proactively surface risks and drive resolution.
Required Experience & Skills
5+ years in NPI, Program Management, or Operations for hardware products.
Strong experience taking electronic hardware products into production.
Solid understanding of:
BOM structures and revision control
Manufacturing builds (alpha/beta/pilot)
Packaging development and testing
Compliance and certification workflows
Exceptionally organised and process-driven.
Comfortable working with overseas factories and suppliers.
Able to manage multiple products in parallel without losing detail.
Strong written and verbal English.
Nice to Have
Experience with consumer electronics, pro-AV, IoT, or networking hardware.
Experience working with Asian manufacturing partners (China, Vietnam, Taiwan, etc.).
Familiarity with ERP / PLM systems.
Experience in smaller, fast-moving product organisations (not only big corporates).
